Carol, thank you!

EE, so this thing with claiming the landscape by tagging it with your initials isn't just an American thing? Too bad.

Jean, this is definitely one of the botanical must-sees in Southern California, along with the nearby LA County Arboretum.

Pam, since there are several background things going on I was surprised how the different backgrounds complemented rather than competed with the bonsai.

Ryan, I'm glad you picked up on the calm of the Japanese Garden in comparison to the Chinese one. Although they come from similar traditions there was a thousand years of separation for the traditions to part ways.

Susie, I missed the osmanthus this trip. I can just imagine the maples with their colored leaves down by the bridge. I guess I need to schedule another Huntington trip. I wish it were closer!

Steve, thanks! There's so much going on at the Huntington. I skipped the art galleries totally this trip. The art doesn't change that quickly but the gardens do!

Simply magnificent. This is a quality Japanese Garden with some obvious history as well. Those Bonsai's are unreal, James. Nice shots - the Huntington is an unusually profuse area, is it not?

Don't you just love the ginkgo section....so peaceful. Could you smell the Osmanthus? You should see the pond area when the Japanese Maples are in fall color...just spectacular.

Interesting to see the two gardens one after the other. The Japanese garden really does seem calmer and more peaceful. That last shot of the bamboo is great.

James, What a wonderful post. I had never heard of the Huntington until I read your posts about it, and now I have added it to my list of "must see" gardens.

The same small mind set that deliberately takes a can of spray paint, to leave their silly name on the rocks of the mountains!
