I really liked the light posts as you photographed them last, lit by the evening sun. The translucent glow of those globes reminded me of alabaster.

I cannot imagine growing a garden where you risk digging into a subsoil of tar. Talk about challenging!

Thought-provoking post!

Very sleek and modern. Some parts appeal, but others just seem cold and lifeless. I couldn't really tell by your post if you like the design or not.

Steve, it's really just a few modifications from what you'd find cubside, but I think the lights really take on a new and exciting life.

Loree, I'm sorry you missed the photo show--definitely worth a visit. At least I'm glad you got to see the rest of what I did.

Tina, yes they light up! I'm sorry I missed seeing them at night. I'm sure it's really the time to see the piece. I can almost imagine all the heat coming off the lights...

Now the question begging to be asked is what does it look like at night? Do the streetlights come on?

And I thought I was going to be the only garden blogger with pictures and a post from LACMA! I haven't gotten that far yet in my California posts and I really enjoyed seeing (and reading) your take on it. We were too early for the landscape photography exhibit. There were signs hung every where but it opened in the next week or something ridiculous like that. I would have loved to see it.

LOL, James, those street lamps are a trip. There are people who use the most normal of items which, arranged interestingly, make us some art. I love this sort of thing, personally. Thanks for sharing.
